News Media Colluded With the FBI To Take Down Manafort
Although most of the political media attention focused on the testimony of former FBI assistant director Peter Strzok and his obvious hatred for President Donald Trump, the Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee decided to praise Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller.
One of the strange statements by the Democrats was the allegation that former Trump campaign worker Paul Manafort is one of the Special Counsel’s success stories, despite the fact that his alleged crime was committed in 2005.
In yet another twist in the Trump-Russia Collusion investigation, it was revealed that the Associated Press, the leading news wireservice allowed reporters to secretly collude with the FBI to help agents to gain access to Paul Manafort’s storage locker.
The defense team for ex-Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort are raising questions with regard to a 2017 meeting between top Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) leaders and reporters from the Associated Press. The reason for the meeting was the questioning if grand jury secrecy was ignored and broken.
The attorneys allege that the case is revealing memos that say the reporters even offered investigators a “code” pertaining to their client’s storage facility.
These details of AP collusion with the FBI emerged through a number of recent filings, including an effort by Manafort’s attorneys to get his criminal trial moved from Northern Virginia, citing pretrial publicity. Manafort, although a minor “inside-the- Beltway-operator,” is frequently covered by TV news cameras and Internet news sites.
“Mr. Manafort’s legal issues and the attendant daily media coverage have become a theatre in the continuing controversy surrounding President Trump and his election,” Manafort’s lawyers wrote to Judge T.S. Ellis, who is overseeing the bank and tax fraud case in Northern Virginia. A second prosecution, involving similar charges, is underway in Washington, D.C.
Arguing for a new venue for his trial somewhere else in Roanoke, Virginia, Manafort’s legal team said an “inside-the-beltway jury” would not benefit their client.
