Memo Released: Bogus data used by FBI to get FISA warrant to spy on Trump and team
The House Intelligence Committee is on the case, announcing on Saturday that they have reached a settlement to obtain bank records from Fusion GPS, the research firm that produced the dossier.
A controversial memorandum showing alleged FBI and Justice Department FISA surveillance abuse released Friday creating a political firestorm within the “D.C. swamp.” The released material includes testimony from a high-ranking government official who says without the infamous Trump “dirty dossier,” the FBI and DOJ would not have acquired from a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrants to spy on at least one member of the Trump team, according to Fox News’ chief intelligence correspondent Catherine Herridge.
“The memo, which has been at the center of an intense power struggle between congressional Republicans, was declassified ahead of its release Friday,” reported Herridge.
The released document pages also claim the FBI and DOJ used media reporting to lend credibility to the dossier, while the firm behind the dossier, Fusion GPS, briefed major American news outlets to include New York Times, Washington Post, CNN, New Yorker, Yahoo and Mother Jones, Herridge reported.
“The memo not only points to corrupt acts by government officials who openly despise President Trump, it also points to the connection between the Democratic Party and the news media who have gained the moniker ‘fake news’ due to reporters and editors actively participating in politics,” said former police spokesperson Audrey M. Larraby.
“The memo shows that after former British spy Christopher Steele was cut off from the FBI, he continued to pass information, as did Fusion GPS, through Justice Department Official Bruce Ohr. Ohr’s wife Nellie began working for Fusion GPS as early as May 2016,” added Herridge.
