The best choice would be a current FBI agent with impeccable credentials; one who has been a field agent, has also been in agency management, and who the rank & file agents hold in very high regard. Such an individual would get more done because he’d have the support of those under him & it would be a big morale booster for a demoralized agency too. It’s almost always best to advance from within an organization & it’s definitely best in this situation.
