U. S. Senator Roger Wicker Receives 2015 Friend of the Taxpayer Award

Helped lead fight for taxpayers against Federal Government forcing states to allow larger double-trailer trucks on its roads

ConservativeBase.com is pleased to announce that U.S. Senator Roger Wicker (R-MS) has received its 2015 “Friend of the Taxpayer Award.” Wicker, among other members of Congress, helped lead the fight against a big government initiative that would have forced states to allow larger double-trailer trucks on its roads.

According to experts, this latest example of Federal Government intrusion would have cost U.S. taxpayers billions of dollars. In fact, studies show that had Wicker and his colleagues not been successful in keeping such a provision out of the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act and the Omnibus Spending Bills, taxpayers would have been saddled with a heavy, multi-billion dollar cost.

Here are the facts:

In order to have these Twin-33 trailer trucks on the roads, the U.S. Department of Transportation would have been required to reinforce over 70,000 bridges that are in significant need of repair, which would cost at least $2 billion per year. Also, these heavy Twin-33 trailers would have caused major wear and tear to our roads, which would have resulted in an additional $6-12 billion to repair pavements per year.

Fortunately for grassroots conservatives, Senator Wicker and others had the courage to say “no” to this madness and restore fiscal sanity for the American taxpayer. U.S. Senator Roger Wicker’s leadership in holding a press conference outside the U.S. Capitol in late October, along with other champions of the taxpayers, helped to defeat the costly federal mandate in 2015. ConservativeBase.com is pleased to award Roger Wicker its 2015 “Friend of the Taxpayer Award” for his efforts in saving the American taxpayers literally billions of dollars on an annual basis.

The problem is that the big money interests behind the federal mandate attempt will be at it once again in 2016. ConservativeBase.com calls on all grassroots conservatives to urge your U.S. Representatives and Senators to stand with Roger Wicker in his fight against wasteful government spending on behalf of American taxpayers.
