South Carolina’s Commander-in-Chief Presidential Forum – Most Important Forum to Date
The Commander-in-Chief Presidential Forum for the Republican presidential candidates is all set for October 15th at Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Jointly sponsored by Wofford College and the South Carolina Republican Party, it will be the first presidential forum of the 2016 cycle to exclusively focus on who is best prepared to be Commander-in-Chief on Day One and keep America safe. As such, it will be the most important presidential forum (or debate, for that matter) to take place thus far in the 2016 presidential cycle.
Americans understand that the Oval Office is not the place for on-the-job training when it comes to being Commander-in-Chief. Fifteen second soundbites on how you would deal with ISIS or the Iran Deal will not cut it. The format gives the American people the best opportunity to date to judge for themselves who is ready to be Commander-in-Chief in January of 2017 and confront the most complex national security and foreign policy situation a US President has ever faced.
Voters across the country should pay careful attention of how the candidates perform on handling such crucial issues, such as border security, missile defense, and the rise of radical Islam. As one conservative activist noted, it will be interesting to note which candidates participate and are willing to demonstrate their preparedness to be Commander-in-Chief and it will speak volumes as to those who are “no-shows.”
In addition to the South Carolina Republican Party and Wofford College, one of the organizers of the event is Van Hipp, the former Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army and former Chairman of the South Carolina Republican Party and author of The New Terrorism: How to Fight It and Defeat It.
The moderator of the Commander-in-Chief Presidential Forum will be former South Carolina Governor David Beasley. Beasley is a conservative who received the 2003 John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award. Beasley, whose international ministry has carried him all over the world in recent years, is a keen student of foreign policy and is on a first name basis with many international leaders. He is an ideal choice to serve as moderator.
