‘Ten Commandments Judge’ Seeks Senate Seat Vacated by Jeff Sessions
I’m Judge Roy Moore. You may know me as “The Ten Commandments Judge.”
I’m running for U.S. Senate in the August 15 Republican Primary to fill the seat vacated by now-Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
I’m writing you today to personally ask for your generous help and support for my campaign.
I’ll give you a link to let me know you’re with me in just a moment, but first please allow me to introduce myself to you on a more personal level and tell you exactly why I’m running for U.S. Senate — and why I’m counting on your immediate support.
Born and raised in Alabama, I graduated high school in 1965 and attended the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
I graduated from West Point in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Arts and Engineering and served as a U.S. Army company commander with the Military Police Corps in Vietnam.
When my service ended, I went back to school and earned a Law Degree from The University of Alabama School of Law in 1977.
I’ve been married to my wife, Kayla, for 31 years and together we’ve been blessed with 4 children and 5 grandchildren.
In 1992, I was appointed as Circuit Judge in Etowah County and then overwhelmingly elected in 1994 as the first Republican judge in Etowah County since Reconstruction.
And in 2000 I had the honor of being elected as the Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court.
In 2003 I was removed from my position for refusing to take down the Ten Commandments monument I had placed in the rotunda of the Alabama Judicial Building to acknowledge the sovereignty of God.
That’s what I meant earlier when I said you may know me as “The Ten Commandments Judge.”
For the next ten years I served as President of the Foundation for Moral Law, where I lectured and filed briefs defending the United States Constitution in Federal District Courts, State Supreme Courts, U.S. Courts of Appeal and the United States Supreme Court.
But my time on the bench wasn’t over yet.
The good people of Alabama wanted a Chief Justice willing to stand up and fight against Barack Obama’s outright shredding of the U.S. Constitution — particularly the 2nd and 10th Amendment.
So in 2012 I was overwhelmingly elected to return and serve as Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court.
But when a U.S. District Court violated the law and attempted to force homosexual “marriage” on the people of Alabama, I penned an open letter boldly announcing that I would uphold Alabama’s Marriage Amendment, which states that marriage is between one man and one woman, and encouraged the Governor and lower courts to defy the ruling.
A politically motivated panel of unelected appointees seized on the opportunity to remove me as Chief Justice, suspending me from the bench for the rest of my term in 2016.
That brings us to today.
After fighting for nearly 15 years to keep Washington, D.C. out of Alabama, I decided it’s time to go on the offensive and take the fight directly to Congress.
I tossed my hat in the ring as a candidate for U.S. Senate in the upcoming August 15 Republican Primary.
As the next Senator from Alabama, I’ll fight for our conservative values like:
*** Ending the scourge of illegal immigration and securing our borders;
*** Repealing Obamacare 100% and getting the federal government out of the business of healthcare;
*** Finding and rooting out radical Islamic terrorism before even more innocent life is lost;
*** Returning American manufacturing to our nation and bringing jobs back to Alabama by rescinding unfair “free trade” agreements which have severely damaged our economy through the loss of jobs and skill development;
*** Slashing taxes and cutting spending to reduce the deficit and enable economic growth and a truly “stimulated” economy;
*** Defending our God-Given Right to keep and Bear Arms enshrined in the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution;
*** Protecting the unborn by ending taxpayer funding of abortion and passing a Life at Conception Act to end abortion in America once and for all;
*** Standing up for the 10th Amendment and telling the truth about judges who put themselves above the Constitution they’re sworn to uphold.
